The IHA Broker Slack — Where Deals Get Unstuck | Independent Health Agents

200+ active broker members · Invitation only

The IHA Slack — where deals get unstuck and tips turn into commissions.

Every IHA agent gets free access to our private Slack workspace — a working room where Medicare, ACA, group, and ICHRA producers swap carrier intel, plan-design tactics, and lead-generation tips that quietly pay for themselves dozens of times over.

Invitation only · Limited intake · Reviewed weekly

You don't join the IHA Slack. You earn a seat.

This isn't a public broker forum or another LinkedIn group. It's a closed working room where 200+ vetted producers share carrier intel, override leads, and AEP playbooks in real time. Signal density only stays high because we keep the door narrow — and the agents inside fight to protect it.

How agents earn a seat

01 · ACTIVE PRODUCTION

Contracted with IHA and actively producing

"Thinking about it" doesn't open the door. We confirm carrier appointments and recent production before review. Tire-kickers don't get a Slack login.
02 · MANUAL REVIEW

Read by IHA leadership — every applicant

No bots, no contracted screeners. A member of IHA leadership reads every application and approves or declines. Reviews happen weekly during AEP, monthly off-season.
03 · MEMBER VOUCH

An existing member's vouch moves you up the queue

Producers we already trust tend to know other producers we'll trust. A short intro from an existing member fast-tracks you past the review backlog.
04 · HARD CAP

Capped at 250 to protect signal quality

Once we hit cap, new admits replace inactive members. We'd rather have 200 producers who answer in 15 minutes than 2,000 lurkers turning the channel into noise.

The agents inside are the ones who closed deals because of a tip dropped on a Tuesday afternoon — not because someone posted a meme. That's the room you're applying to.

Heads up — Wellcare just closed RTS for new agents in NC for the rest of AEP. Got a denial email at 7am. Anyone else?
DK
Derek K.9:21 AM
Confirmed on my end too. Workaround: Cigna PDP is still paying RTS within 48 hrs in NC and the formulary covers most of the same drugs. I switched 3 pending apps yesterday — clients didn't notice.

Adding to the carrier-alerts pinned doc 📌. Maria, if you want to write Wellcare in NC for the open SEP window, ping me — I can fast-track your contract via our direct rep.

Maria kept all 12 of her pending NC enrollments by switching to Cigna PDP — would have lost ~$3,200 in first-year commission if she'd waited for Wellcare to reopen.

Stuck. Family of 4 in TX, household income $84K, one kid on a CHIP-bridge. The HealthSherpa quote keeps stripping the dad off the application. Anyone seen this?
JV
Jen V.2:07 PM
Yes. Income is right at the cliff for the kid. Try splitting the app — parents on a Marketplace plan, kid on CHIP separately. Sherpa won't do it auto but you can mark "child not seeking coverage" and enroll him directly through TX HHS. Took me 12 min last week.
RP
Rashid P.2:48 PM
That worked. Family is on a Silver 73 with a $52/mo APTC, kid auto-enrolled in CHIP. Closing the app right now.

Rashid closed the family instead of losing them to the Marketplace's automated re-routing. ~$1,840 in renewable annual commission.

Got an inbound from a 22-life dental office in St. Louis MO asking about group health + ICHRA. I'm Med-Sup focused, not appointed for group. Anyone want this lead? Owner is ready for a quote this week.
TM
Travis M.11:43 AM
I'll take it. ICHRA is my main thing — I write 30+ groups/yr in MO. Sending you a quick referral agreement so you get 25% override for life of the case.

Sent. Owner's name + email is in DM.

Closed. 22 lives, ICHRA at $450/employee. Lori — your override hits in November statement 🍻

Lori turned a lead she couldn't write into a 25% override for the life of the case. Travis added a 22-life group to his book. Both got paid.

$11K AEP lift
PB
Pria B.8:50 AM
Sharing what worked for me last AEP — ran $200/wk in geo-targeted FB ads to ZIP codes with high MA penetration using "Turning 65? Compare Indiana plans in 5 minutes" as the headline. Landing page = my HealthSherpa link. Got 47 quote requests, closed 19.
MG
Maria G.8:54 AM
Saving this. What pixel are you using on the landing page?
PB
Pria B.8:56 AM
Meta + GA4 both. Sherpa lets you drop pixels in the agent settings. Happy to share the ad creative — DM me.

Stealing this for OK ZIPs this AEP. Will report back 📈

Three other agents adapted Pria's playbook. Jen reported back $11K in additional first-year commission from running the same campaign in Oklahoma the next quarter.

Nobody told me Spark's "Send needs assessment" button auto-texts the client a SOA-compliant questionnaire. I've been emailing PDFs for a year like a chump 🙃
TM
Travis M.3:25 PM
Yep. Cuts about 4 days off the close cycle. I started using it in July — my AEP completion rate went from 71% to 89%.

Derek added the auto-texted needs assessment to his workflow. Closed an extra 8 plans in October — about $2,400/mo in recurring renewable commissions.
Why our Slack pays off

A real working room — not a marketing channel.

Sub-15-minute response times

Every channel has at least one IHA staff member and a handful of veteran agents watching during business hours. Most carrier-intel and plan-design questions get a useful answer in under 15 minutes.

Built-in lead-handoff agreements

Got a lead outside your specialty or state? Hand it off to an IHA peer who can write it — a 25% override gets locked in for the life of the case so you still get paid for the referral.

The carrier intel you won't get from a rep

RTS shutdowns, comp changes, system outages, formulary tricks — agents hear about them from each other in #carrier-alerts hours before the carrier emails an official notice.
Community guidelines

What this Slack is — and what it isn't.

It's a working room for licensed agents already contracted (or actively contracting) through Independent Health Agents. We keep the signal high so the channel stays useful at 8 PM during AEP.

Carrier intel from people who write the carrier
